Permanent-Magnet Hysteresis Clutch
The permanent-magnet hysteresis clutch (and brake) is a contactless, settable-torque device. Torque is held constant across the speed range, requires no external control or power source, and operates with virtually no wear. Torque is adjusted simply by varying the magnet gap; each unit is independently adjustable across a 1:4 range, and overall torque range spans 0–3000 N·m.
Applications
- Tension control: wire, paper, film, light-alloy foil
- Torque limiters: capping, screwdriving, positioning
- Precision machinery requiring constant torque
- Small-motor torque measurement and durability testing
Why customers choose it
- Constant torque, variable control. Torque is independent of speed; each unit is continuously adjustable across a 1:4 range.
- Stable and repeatable. Two permanent magnets adjust strength by distance rather than by switching poles, yielding very flat repeatability.
- Clean and safe. Contactless operation means no wear debris — well suited to cleanroom and ultra-clean lines.
- Lower total cost. No external power, piping or wiring; installation is simple.
- Long service life. No parts wear out; lifetime is bounded only by the bearing — replace the bearing and the unit is good as new.
